Day 10 – Lo, I am with you always

Part 10/19: 40 Days with the Risen Christ

The Risen Christ promises His continued presence

Words of the Risen Lord

Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28:20 (KJV)

The Moment

These are the final recorded words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew. He had just commissioned His disciples to teach and baptize all nations. Then He offered a promise that would sustain them: “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” (see Matthew 28:20).

His earthly ministry was drawing to a close. But His presence would not depart. His words were not just farewell—they were assurance.

Insights from Scripture and Prophets

The original Greek adds depth and beauty to this promise. Instead of simply “alway,” the phrase reads: “I am with you all the days.” The wording is personal, specific, and ongoing. It isn’t just a blanket presence—it’s a promise of daily companionship.

And where the King James says “unto the end of the world,” the Greek phrase is συντέλεια τοῦ αἰῶνος—which means more precisely: “unto the consummation of the age.” This is not about destruction—it is about fulfillment. Christ promises to be with us until God’s purposes are fully completed.

President Thomas S. Monson once testified:

“He is the same yesterday, today, and forever—and He will not forsake us.”
President Thomas S. Monson, October 2013 General Conference

He did not leave His disciples alone. He will not leave us either.
