Day 7 – Follow Me

This entry is part 7 of 19 in the series 40 Days with the Risen Christ
Jesus says Follow Me

Words of the Risen Lord

Follow me.
John 21:19 (KJV)

The Moment

After His tender restoration of Peter by the Sea of Galilee, the Savior spoke two simple words that would define Peter’s future: “Follow me.” (see John 21:19).

When Peter, curious about the future of John, asked, “And what shall this man do?” Jesus answered, “If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.” (see John 21:22).

Christ’s call was deeply personal. It was not conditioned on what others would do. It was an invitation to singular devotion—to walk the path Christ had prepared, without comparison or hesitation.

Insights from Scripture and Prophets

Christ’s call to follow is the same today as it was that morning on the shore. It does not depend on understanding every detail. It depends on trust, love, and willingness to walk with Him.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf taught:

“Discipleship is not about doing things perfectly; it is about doing things intentionally. It is about being willing to accept the Savior’s invitation: ‘Come, follow me.’”
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, April 2019 General Conference

In Peter’s story, we see the pattern for every believer: repentance, love, commitment, and forward motion. Christ does not dwell on our past. He invites us onward—with Him, always.

The path will be individual. The sacrifices may differ. But the call is the same: Follow Me.
